Environmental protection - logistics with responsibility

We are being criticized. Of course, we are aware of the environmental impact of heavy goods traffic, but we also know that there are no real alternatives to meeting the demand for goods and merchandise in the economy. Through various measures, we reduce the emission of environmentally harmful gases in our company and ensure a reduction in the consumption of important resources with appropriate facilities and ideas.

We cannot improve our environment, but we can protect it

In addition to our customers, employees and suppliers, our environment is very important to us. We therefore try to protect our living space in the best possible and sustainable way. All our commercial vehicles are already designed to conserve resources, are aerodynamically optimized, fully clad, weight-optimized and equipped with fuel-saving technology. Furthermore, all our vehicles are equipped exclusively with low-emission EURO 6 class engines and have a green sticker. When using vehicles from our transport partners, we also ensure compliance with these high standards. This enables us to keep our CO2 emissions to a minimum. When choosing our tires, we also looked at CO2 emissions and examined their influence on fuel consumption and in relation to other manufacturer brands. In an elaborate test involving the manufacturers on the market, we were able to determine and contract the tire with the lowest rolling resistance.

But commercial vehicle technology is not everything.

Since 2011, we have also been focusing on reducing our fleet fuel consumption. Our fleet managers and eco-trainers, who are always up to date with the latest manufacturer training, provide regular driver training in theory and practice. Supported by the telematics system installed in our vehicles from the manufacturer Transics, one of Europe's leading information systems, all influencing factors are continuously monitored and the consumption and wear values of our drivers are reduced. As a result, we have been able to reduce our fleet consumption by around 3 liters per 100 km since the introduction of our self-developed consumption optimization concept.
Now we are aiming for the next liter!
But it's not just our machines and our employees that are helping to protect the environment - we are also doing our bit for the roofs of our buildings. In 2012, for example, we opted for regenerative power generation and equipped around 8,000 square meters of roof area with state-of-the-art photovoltaic technology. In doing so, we are also making a major contribution to pursuing the goals of our community at the company location - to become a “0-emissions community”! With our photovoltaic system and approx. 2,500 solar modules, we generate up to 500,000 kWh per year and feed up to 500 kWp into the local utility grid via our 26 inverters. This enables us to reduce CO2 emissions by around 3,500 tons per year.

Briefly on photovoltaics:

Photovoltaic systems are considered to be very environmentally friendly. This is mainly due to the fact that a photovoltaic system generates significantly more energy than is required for its production. Another environmentally friendly aspect is the CO2-free operation. A photovoltaic system does not produce any CO2 when generating electrical energy. On the contrary, a photovoltaic system significantly helps to reduce CO2 emissions. For every kilowatt of peak power (kWp) generated, around seven tons of CO2 are avoided.
